Endorsement for Dyslexia Therapist

This program is designed to prepare licensed K-12 teachers to become dyslexia therapists, having mastery of the dyslexia therapist standards in foundational concepts, knowledge of the structure of language, interpretation and administration of assessments for planning instruction, structured language teaching and professionalism.

The College of Education and Health Professions provides the coursework needed for licensed teachers to submit a request for the dyslexia endorsement from the Arkansas Department of Education.

The therapist will work with teachers, parents and students in identification of students needing dyslexia services, assessment for intervention and prescribing/implementing appropriate interventions for students identified as dyslexic. The endorsed therapists will serve as the coordinator and interventionist for dyslexia services within a school.
